The QVT-MF Multivariable Transmitter from Eastern Instruments is a high performance multivariable smart transmitter that has been optimized for the extremely accurate flow measurement of air and gas at or near atmospheric pressure (5 - 25 psia). Allowing for the measurement of up to four separate process variables including Differential Pressure, Temperature and Absolute Pressure, the QVT will calculate the fully compensated mass flow of air or gas in nearly any duct. When coupled with any Differential Pressure based flow element, the QVT ensures extremely accurate flow measurement down to +/-0.50% of Reading over 100:1 range of DP and 10:1 flow turn-down.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Below, you can find the manuals for the QVT family of flow transmitters. For any questions or technical issues that you may have, please contact us for assistance.
The QVT is a Multivariable, or Smart, Transmitter that will measure Differential Pressure, Absolute Pressure and Temperature, and will then output a fully compensated mass flow signal via a 4-20 mA signal.
When attached to any Differential Pressure based primary flow element such as VAP Averaging Pitots or HBP Flow Conditioners, the QVT will provide an extremely accurate differential pressure measurement.
The QVT Multivariable Transmitter is typically optioned with an RTD Temperature Sensor for accurately measuring the temperature of the air temperature within your duct work.
Our unique method of isolating sensors from the process requires no diaphragm seal, meaning that the QVT-MV can measure a much lower DP than traditional transmitters with diaphragm seals. Sensor Isolation can be further enhanced by using a Purge Seal (Low Volume Continuous Purge coupled directly to transmitter).
Accuracy of measurement can be as high as +/-0.50% of reading over a 100:1 range in DP and a 10:1 range in flow.
Can be ranged from 0 to 0.1 in WC up to 0 to 8 in WC.
Updates flow calculation 10 times a second.
All measured and calculated variables are available on LCD panel.
The 4-20 mA output is configured to represent the flow rate of air passing through the duct.
Most variables, including the Ae Number, the full scale value, the units, and many more, are all set directly from the LCD/push button interface.
Differential Pressure value can be zeroed from the LCD/push button interface.
The QVT is Loop Powered and requires between 8.8 and 42.5 vDC.
The QVT is equipped with a dual access head. One of the heads opens up the display for troubleshooting, while the other head opens for wiring and installation.
The QVT Multivariable Transmitter can be used in a wide range of applications in a variety of sectors for accurate flow measurement. Whether coupled with an array of Eastern Instruments Insertion pitots or with another manufacturer's flow element, the QVT Differential Pressure Transmitter will accurately output the flow of air traveling through your duct work. Below are just a few applications.
PERFECT FOR NEW INSTALLATIONS
The QVT-MF is perfect for new installations and can easily be coupled with nearly any manufacturer's DP based flow element, including Eastern Instruments' own High Beta flow element, pictured here. Typically coupled with standard 3-Way or 5-Way Valves, the setup and installation of the QVT-MF is extremely simple.
The QVT-MF Differential Pressure Transmitter is perfect for retrofit installations as well, especially since the QVT-MF will work with any new or existing DP based flow element, making the QVT-MF perfect for retrofit applications where a transmitter is needed for an existing element. The optional mounting bracket for the QVT-MF Differential Pressure Transmitter allows it to be pipe mounted in either the horizontal or vertical plane.
Below, you will find a variety of product literature including product catalogs, single page cut sheets and various application guides that can assist in selecting the correct flow element for your project. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us as well.

What is the QVT-MF?
The QVT-MF Multivariable Smart Transmitter will measure the Temperature, Absolute Pressure and the Differential Pressure (Velocity Pressure) within nearly any low pressure ductwork and will deliver a fully compensated 4-20 mA mass flow signal. Whether the QVT-MF is connected to Eastern Instruments brand flow elements or to another manufacturer's brand of flow elements, the QVT will deliver an accurate and dependable flow measurement. While the QVT-MF Multivariable Smart Transmitter is perfect for any application under 9 in WC, it is especially accurate for draft range applications where the Differential Pressure can be under 1 in WC. The QVT will work with any differential pressure based flow element. Some models are listed below.
WORKS WITH MOST DP BASED FLOW ELEMENTS
VAP INSERTION PITOTS
The VAP Insertion Pitot is designed for easy installation, via ports, directly into new or existing duct work. Insertion of a VAP Pitot will ensure an accurate differential pressure output that allows for precise airflow measurement and control of your process. The VAP Insertion Pitot is designed to perform particularly well in both clean air applications and in heavily particulate-laden applications and can be adapted for use in applications where pitot freezing is a concern. If you are looking for an economical and highly accurate method of measuring air flow in ducts with adequate straight duct runs upstream and downstream, the VAP Insertion Pitot is a great choice.
DSV - DUCT SECTION VAP
The DSV, or Duct Section VAP, incorporates straightening vanes and a VAP Pitot array within a spooled duct section to make installation of the VAP Pitot even easier. The DSV can be quickly bolted in place for new ductwork or can be retrofitted into existing duct work for simple and accurate air flow measurement. Designed for both clean air and particulate-laden air flow measurement applications, the DSV is an accurate, no-hassle air flow measurement device for ducts with adequate straight duct runs upstream and/or downstream.
HBP - HIGH BETA FLOW CONDITIONER
As not all ductwork allows for proper upstream and downstream straight duct runs, a flow conditioning device is often needed for profiling air flow at the point of flow measurement. The High Beta Process (HBP) Flow Conditioner is a proprietary-designed flow conditioning device, designed to eliminate cyclonic, turbulent and reverse flow, while minimizing pressure loss in almost any installation, including those with relatively few or almost no straight duct runs either upstream or downstream. The High Beta integrates flow-straightening vanes and a flow-profiling section with the precise measurement accuracy of the VAP Pitot to offer flow conditioning and accurate air flow measurement, even when placed directly downstream of an elbow, damper or other duct obstruction. The HBP comes in standard sizes that allow the delivery of accurate air flow measurement without the longer lead times associated with custom designs.
