VAP
3® gas flow measurement system is ideal for either new or retrofit industrial applications. When inserted in gas flow ducts, the VAP
3® provides an accurate, differential pressure output allowing for precise gas flow measurement or control of your process. VAP
3® Pitots are designed for Standard Applications (clean air) and heavy Particulate-Laden Applications. Due to its unique Velocity Averaging and Parallel Plate Pitot patented design, the VAP
3® can be installed in existing or new ducts or incorporated into flow-conditioning devices, such as the High Beta™, designed for short duct run applications with turbulent gas flow.
Each VAP
3® Probe has multiple total and static sensing ports, specifically located to provide a full traverse of the duct, thus eliminating the concern of highly random distribution of gas flow. For larger ducts, an array of probes, with total and static pressure lines manifolded, can be installed to ensure an equal area traversing and fully averaged airflow sampling. The VAP
3® gas flow sensor is erosion resistant and can handle process temperatures from -40° to 700° F. The VAP
3® is constructed from a single-piece series 6063 aluminum extrusion that has a Teflon
® (Dupont)-impregnated hard-anodizing metallurgical surface treatment applied, yielding a surface hardness of Rockwell 65C.
VAP3®/SA - Industrial Velocity Averaging Parallel Plate Pitot for Standard Applications
Ideally designed for industrial process applications, the VAP
3®/SA is suitable for relatively clean process environments, where high accuracy is required for measurement and control.
VAP3®/PA Industrial Velocity Averaging Parallel Plate Pitot for Heavy Particulate Applications
VAP
3®/PA is designed for primary and secondary gas flow in power plants where fly ash carryover and particles are present.
VAP
3®/PA can be placed in highly corrosive and heavily particulate/condensate-laden environments while still measuring accurately and reliably without being prone to plugging problems.

Differential Pressure System - DPS

The Differential Pressure System (DPS), when coupled to the VAP
3® Series Pitot, is used to deliver accurate, reliable mass flow measurement for industrial applications. The microprocessor-based flow transmitter with optional controller output consists of a differential pressure transmitter and flow processor. The system transmits an analog output signal that is proportional to flow. The processor enables the DPS to take a temperature and/or a duct static pressure input signal, providing a density-compensated output signal in a wide range of flow units. With the fast scan time of the DPS and a selectable moving average of the display and output variables, the DPS can deliver a reliable, accurate signal, converting the fast response of the VAP
3® Series Pitot to the digital control systems of today.
The DPS can be used in conjunction with the Line Mounted Purge Block (LMPB) to assist in preventing contamination of the transmitter and impulse lines by condensate, dust particles, and/or corrosive gases.

Differential Pressure Unit - DPU
The Differential Pressure Unit (DPU), when coupled to the VAP
3® Series Pitot, is used to deliver accurate, dependable flow measurement in industrial applications. The Pressure and Flow Transmitter Display Unit consists of a differential pressure transmitter and display. The DPU transmits an analog output signal that is proportional to the pressure or flow, utilizing the integrated square root extractor. Optionally, the output can be set using an 11-point calibration.
The DPU can be used in conjunction with the Line Mounted Purge Block (LMPB) to assist in preventing contamination of the transmitter and impulse lines by condensate, dust particles, and/or corrosive gases.
Differential Pressure Gauge - DPG
The Differential Pressure Gauge (DPG), when coupled to the VAP
3® Series Pitot, is used to deliver a reliable flow measurement for industrial applications. The Pressure and Flow Display consists of a differential pressure gauge manifolded within and industrial enclosure. It can be configured to display differential pressure in inches of H2O, as well as flow rate in customer defined units. The unit is accurate to within +/- 2% and is suited for clean, dry, non-corrosive air. It is rated for internal pressures from10 to 10 psig (-68.6 to 68.6 kPa) and temperatures from 20° to 140° F (-6.67° to 60° C). When just a differential pressure display is needed, the DPG is the ideal solution.
